It’s our last day, this afternoon we head home. But we still have most of the day.

We start out by going to the Rockefeller Centre, Top of the Rock. As part of our tour yesterday we secured discounted tickets to visit the top. So up we go. The view is amazing from up here. Central Park to our north, lower Manhattan to our south. We wander and explore the 360 degree open air view taking in a city we have fallen in love with.

We will come back, when we don’t know. But now with three visits under our belt, we have discovered a home away from home that gives us the break we need.

We stand quietly and take in the view, enjoying our last few moments in the city.

Afterwards, Mardi has encouraged me to buy a keep sake for our trip, a sort of eternity ring for me in the form of a watch. I’ve always wanted a Brietling, so we head into the Brietling Boutique.

Time is getting short, but how hard can buying a watch really be!

As we are buzzed into the shop a salesperson greets us and invites us to sit down. The table ratchets in around us. Hmmm, we aren’t going anywhere for a while. From then on there is a procession of watches, gorgeous piece after gorgeous piece, much like our Tiffany experience. We settle on a range, that is within our price range and start exploring the various models. Mardi spots one with a mesh bracelet, a Super Ocean Heritage, 44mm. I try it on and fall in love with it. It’s perfect. And priced perfectly as well! We agree to buy it.

At that point Mardi says she has to go; we need to pack. The exercise took over an hour and time is really short now. Mardi leaves and I conclude the purchase. But it isn’t that easy. After paying for the watch, I then get a training class in how to look after it, wind it etc. Then I am showered with gifts. A hat, a cleaning cloth, stickers, a wallet, books, chocolates and a large box to carry it all in. This exercise takes about another thirty minutes. The staff and service are wonderful, but I really need to catch my flight.

Once complete I rush back to the hotel, I think to myself while I’m on the platform it looks a big obvious what I have just done as I’m carrying a large Brietling bag. I feel a little self-conscious, and then I look around. No one cares, and most people are carrying some form of branded bag with them. Its New York. This is normal!

Mardi has finished packing and a car is waiting for us to get to the airport. It looks like I’m carrying a large watch box with me back home!

Thanks New York. Take care, we will see you again.

We finish getting our stuff in the car and head off to JFK, just in time. The traffic isn’t too bad, and we reach the airport with enough time to make our flight and the long journey back home.
