Our first full day in NYC. Day 1 is a bit of a ritual with us these days. Sorting out mobile data, getting some snacks for the room, some tea from David’s Tea House, getting our subway tickets for the month sorted and of course visiting Bosie Tea Parlour, our favourite place in NYC.

Getting these jobs done helps shake off the jet lag and also helps us get our New York on.

The busy streets of Manhattan are a stark comparison to down town Canberra even at its busiest time.

We are however never surprised to see something new or different as we walk the familiar track from Times Square to the subway to the East Village to grab some tea and snacks.

After getting the phone sorted we headed down time for tea and chocolate and cheese and biscuits. Yum. On our way we passed the SoHo Grand Hotel. A hotel that lets dogs stay. Maybe one day Dahlia will visit NYC with us. The city is certainly dog friendly with dozens of dogs and their faithful companions following them down the windy streets of this part of Manhattan.

We spent a while in Murray’s Cheese Shop. Finding dozens of delectable cheese, and buying a few to enjoy during our stay. Then it was off to David’s Tea. We bought some yummy tea, chilli flavoured, one with a twist of chocolate and a couple of nice mugs. We then walked to Mardi’s favourite chocolate shop, Vosges Haut Chocolat. Yes that’s how they spell chocolate. You name it and it comes with chocolate. Bacon, banana, chilli, nuts, honey and just about everything else.

Finally a couple of hours sitting and enjoying a full tea service at Bosie. We just love the tea, the afternoon snacks, the atmosphere and the non tourist atmosphere. A hidden gem in the city built on tourism.

We then made the short trip home and settled in after a hectic day.

A quiet dinner in our room as we make plans for the next few days
