Friday greeted us with another perfect day of warm temperatures and sunny skies mixed with some clouds. Friday also greeted Mardi with a 20% off sale at Sephora. So rather than get in her way, I ventured to Central Park and Mardi went cosmetic shopping.

I left Mardi at Sephora and walked from 44th street to Central Park, down Fifth avenue, about 15 blocks.

Central Park starts at 59th street. Along the way I took some photos and dropped my watch into the Breitling Boutique for a check up.

I was soon on my way into the park. I bumped into a fellow photo enthusiast and we spent some time chatting about lenses, light and fall in Central Park. While the best of the colour is over, there is always something to see and photo in the park. I saw a wedding, a jazz band, a number of dudes playing saxophone, kids playing, people ice skating, bubble blowing.

You might notice a theme starting to emerge from the photos I’m taking. More on that in a few days time.

After a couple of hours, I caught up with Mardi on 57th street where we had a late lunch at Bareburger. Bareburger is an organic free range burger joint. The burger was yum, but the chocolate and peanut butter milk shake was awesome.

After lunch we went for a walk through the Time Warner Centre at 59th street just opposite the park. We then caught the subway home and had a break before heading out for a jazz tour.

We left our room at around 7.20 to walk the eight blocks to start the jazz tour. We met our guide, John. And we’re the only couple on the tour. We headed up to Harlem and John our guide and Peter the driver gave us a history of NYC and showed us some sights in the Harlem area. As pleasant as they were the tour wasn’t much. The best part was when they dropped us off at Smoke, a jazz restaurant and bar. We enjoyed a great meal of soul food and some great jazz. After dinner and the show we were dropped back to Sixth avenue and had an ice cream from Toys R Us. Yum.

We then went home. Another great day.
