We woke to thunder bolts and lightning. So had a morning in. Washing and tidying up. We had a walking tour planned for midtown at 2pm and hoped the weather would clear.

I went to the gym for a quick workout while Mardi pottered around the apartment.

I headed out at about 12.30pm to take some videos and photos and met up with Mardi just before 2pm for our tour. We met our guide, Josh from Urban Adventures. We were the only two people on the tour so enjoyed a relaxed tour around midtown.

We started at grand central and Josh pointed out some cool facts. Some we knew about, others we didn’t. We then had lunch at Urban Space, pizza at Roberts’s. Nice. We will certainly go back to this little industrial space filled with cool eating places.

We walked across town from Grand Central to the Rockefeller centre, through the diamond district, enjoying some fine Uzbekistani traditional food. We discovered some cool underground tunnels, enjoyed a hot chocolate at a Simons and popped into Times Square and then across 8th Avenue. Another little gem was discovered when we had a donut in an eatery attached to the Row Hotel. Now donuts as we know them are sort of bite sized wheels of deliciousness. These were the same flavour wise, but size wise they could only be eaten with a knife and fork. Massive. But yum. We finished in a boutique brewery on 45th.

A full three hours discovering some cool new gems we never knew existed.

We departed Josh and made our way back to our hotel. The overcast weather had endured all day, which meant the second and last chance at seeing the supermoon was lost.

Given the weather and we were pretty much walked out, we decided to have dinner in and a quiet night.
