As storms passed through Manhattan we had a lazy morning. We’ve been averaging 20,000 steps a day, so our feet were thankful for the break.

The afternoon and evening were then all about Harry Potter. We secured tickets to see The Cursed a child on Broadway. The show was on at the Lyric theatre on 43rd and Broadway. It’s quite an immersive and lengthy show. The theatre resembles Hogwarts and the play runs for four acts over two parts spanning five hours, with a two hour break at half time.

The play takes you on a time turning journey through the magical universe created by J K Rowling. It follows the children of the three main characters from the movies and starts 22 years after Harry concludes his education at Hogwarts. Aside from some great staging and lighting effects, magic abounds as characters transform before you and the whole set shudders as time shifts.

At half time we make a bee line for John’s Pizza and get caught in a storm. We stand in line for a few minutes, before changing tact’s and we venture inside to the City kitchen. An upscale food court across the road. We grab some Raman followed by a giant donut. Yum!

A quick pit stop back at the hotel, then onto part two of Harry Potter.

As we are walking to part 2 we really start to notice the change in people walking around. Holiday makers and families in town for thanksgiving dominate. There are kids, strollers and groups of people everywhere. It certainly is a special time of year.

The second half of the show is as enjoyable as the first half.

After the show we emerge onto 43rd St with the familiar sound of bicycle bells as the rickshaws create their own symphony as they strive for passengers. We cross the road and are home within a few minutes.
