Around four blocks across town and ten down and we arrive at 9th and 34th. We are stunned by the development in the area. A mass of large blue glass buildings has emerged in the last year.

We are in search of the new Hudson Yards subway station. We use Google and navigate to where the entrance should be. No, its not there, a boarded up block under development sits at that spot instead. We circumnavigate the block just in case there the entrance has been moved. Nope. Nothing.

We wander closer to the Hudson River and venture into the Javits Centre. Maybe the entrance is in there. As we wander around we join a crowd of Anime lovers attending an Anime convention. There are some out there looking people, obviously many love their Japanese Anime Characters. But after talking to a few people, we get ushered out of the space and bac onto the street.

We pass a mass of snow and ice that has been swept up from the street and now sits on the side of the road like a large mound of dinosaur poo.

We wander back down 34th and notice a large sculpture. We wander over there to check it out, it’s called the Vessel. It is still under construction, but what is adjacent to it is the new entrance to the new subway station.

We venture into the subterranean world, deeper and deeper we go. Three large flights of escalators finally delivers us some 150 feet underground. We catch the subway back up town and visit The Met.

After a quick visit to the Met, mostly the shop, we venture onto 85th Street for some lunch. Its quite late, we spent an age wandering around the Hudson Yards. So it’s more an early dinner than lunch.

We sit an enjoy the food for a while. The great thing about holidays is that rarely are you in a hurry. So lunches and dinners can take as little or as long as you like. We enjoy a selection of burgers, fries and desserts at the New Amity Restaurant and Diner as we sit and enjoy a rest after the walk in the bitter cold.

After dinner we head home and spend a few hours in doors, thawing out

[rl_gallery id=”16617″].

Today we wander along 42nd Street and head out to Hudson Yards.
