New Yorkers have been wishing for rain for months. And today. Thursday. their wish comes true. It’s bucketing down. We expect 50mm in the next 12 hours.
We head out. Mardi is keen to get her nails done, I need a haircut and we want to visit a nice little French restaurant for lunch.
We get all that done.
Lunch is delightful. We’ve been to Amelie before. A nice little French cafe just off 5th Avenue down near Washington Square. Onion soup, pate, a burger, ham and cheese croissant. Delicious.
As the rain persists we decide to head home and take it easy for the afternoon.
Later on I head out to meet Bob at the oculus for a hot chocolate. I also walk around the World Trade Centre site. it’s pouring and a little eerie as dusk rolls in. I walk around the reflecting ponds, which are not running. The tall buildings disappear into the mist overhead and my mind wanders back to 2001 on that fateful day in September.

After finishing walking around and a drink with Bob I head home.
We eat dinner in as the rain sets in.
