Weeks three and four were almost normal. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit so the habit of wearing a sling is now normal for me. I still sleep for only a couple hours at a time and everything still takes a lot of time to get done.  Although the last 14 days has been a catalyst for me to get back to normal life. I had some preplanned travel for work in Sydney in Melbourne and Mardi and I had a cruise that we booked months and months ago. You can read about the cruise here.

The timing worked out really well with the cruise falling In between my work in Sydney and my work in Melbourne. The only problem was that meant I away for eight days and a couple of those were on my own. So for six days I had the support of Mardi which made things a lot easier. Normally, I’m the one lugging the bags to and from airports and into overhead lockers but this time that chore fell to Mardi. Whilst we were away, we enjoyed a couple of fine dining experiences in Sydney at Saint Peter and the other in Melbourne at Reine and La Rue. It’s not very elegant fine dining with one arm in a sling!  But I made the best of it.

The cruise also gave me some good time to allow my arm to continue to heal while doing as much physio as possible. The last couple of weeks have seen very positive improvement in both my range of motion and the pain I feel.

The end of wearing the sling inside 14 days to go and the real Physio and recovery can start.
