This morning we spent some time wandering our local area, before heading to Bloomindales for a look around. We haven’t spent much time in department stores in New York, so it was a good opportunity to take some time while it rained to look around indoors. Bloomingdales is located on 59Th Street and Lexington Avenue. We enjoy a yummy lunch after we have finished wandering around. I have a trio of sliders and Mardi enjoys a traditional burger.

After lunch we head way up town to the Cloisters.

The Cloisters is an extension of The Met. It is located on 196th Street in Tryon Park. It features European medieval architecture, sculpture, and decorative arts, with a focus on the Romanesque and Gothic periods.

We walk from the subway to the Cloisters through the park in pouring rain.

When we arrive we wander the buildings exploring some of the 5,000 pieces of art on display. I am particularly taken with a series of unicorn tapestries that feature a unicorn at various stages of pursuit. The seventh tapestry resonates with me as the unicorn, seemingly penned is now free. It’s a lot like the animals that were within my care at RSPCA. I hope that without me they will continue to thrive and the foundations I established will remain in place.

After our visit we head back into town and funnily enough decide to go to Serendipity 3 again. This time for a full meals of delicious nachos and hot dogs, plus of course hot chocolates.
