Wow. What an awesome experience just cruising across the vast expanse of the North Atlantic Ocean. For two days we cruise in a south east direction. We make about 11 knots and the skipper informs us he’s going to go around a low pressure system to avoid some high seas and bad weather. Our first night we fell the pitch and roll and the creaking of cabin panels, but by morning it is plain crushing. The sea is calm and the sun warming up.

We fill the two sea days with a range of activities. We grow more familiar with the ships layout and venture to most decks as we enjoy a range of activities.

Two days isn’t long enough to create a routine but we don’t do too badly. A bit of a sleep in. Some lunch, we don’t like the buffet. It’s packed, kids running and screaming and no seating. So after one visit we avoid it. We prefer the other restaurant and still haven’t been to the food hall properly. We did I try it on embarkation day but it was packed.

We enjoy trivia. We enjoy hot chocolates at Starbucks. We visit the casino. Annoyingly it’s also attached to the smoking room casino. The doors doing a poor job of keeping the smokers at bay. I play craps nice and don’t enjoy it. Too much smoke. Too many drunk Americans yelling and screaming. We do play some roulette and enjoy the quieter smoke free space.

We attend game shows. Which are hilarious. We enjoy deal or no deal and see people sweat over amounts up to $1000, not one million. We watch the price is right which is fun but the prizes are really dodgy. We have fun at the n newly and not so newly wed game. It’s hilarious. We see Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours covered, dance competitions. We drive racing cars – we will do that again it’s a lot of fun. We play mini golf. A high tech version that if it worked would be fun. But our scores get confused and our balls get stuck and lost in tunnels. It was quite frustrating in the end.

We also of course enjoy some great food. Japanese. Italians. French. Each of the fine dining meals are great. We discover yummy burgers and hot dogs at the local bar and grill and we enjoy drinks in a variety of bars around the ship. Mostly at the metropolitan where trivia is held daily.

Sea days are pretty cruisy. We sit here and there and wander the ship exploring and relaxing in between activities and eating. Watching the ocean slide by is very relaxing. The sea is calm, sun warm and there is only a mild breeze.

It’s a great way to spend a few days.
