The sun was shining and the breeze was light so we decided to spend a day in the park. It is really a space you never tire of. Now on our fourth trip, we have a reasonable handle on where to go and what to see, but we also have so much we haven’t discovered or explored. So, every visit is like our first time. We walk somewhere different, we wander down a new and varied pathway or head off in a alternate direction. Of course our favourite Still Hunt is always on our list of places to visit, but other than that we let the park guide us as we walk around 20 blocks into the park and back out again.

The walk is pleasant in the afternoon sun and the sun is filled with people from all walks doing their thing. We see a wedding at Bethesda Fountain, squirrels, just about everywhere, artists on literary walk flogging their wares and kids running around enjoying time away from the mundaneness of school and chores.

We also walk 5th Avenue for around 15 blocks. We do a little bit of shopping, popping in and out of shops that take our fancy. No big purchases this year, watches and rings were last year. The Aussie dollar is still doing OK, but not like it has been in recent years.

We eventually get back to Times Square, now for dinner. We’ve walked in total around 70 blocks. Not bad for our first day. Shake Shack and Juniors are our staple first night meal. Both easy and near us and after so much walking, make dinner nice and easy. We grab our food and head home for a restful night after a very busy first 24 hours.
