Today we go on a cruise. We cruise deep northwards up the Hudson, as far as Westpoint. The four hour cruise is a delight. We get to sit and just watch the world slide by. During the trip the captain tells stories or inform sus of things as we pass. A nuclear powerplant here, a rubbish recycling plant there and so on.

We find the trip a great way to get away from the drama of the last week. It seems my eye us recovering well and we rally want to get into our trip. Its good that this year we planned a four week stay instead of the two weeks we have previously done. It has allowed time for my eye to recover, for me to get used to the new normal that is my eyesight and to put more distance between me and the drama of RSPCA. Todays is really a turning point of the holiday for us and as I have that thought the captain turns the boat round after telling us about Westpoint. It’s a symbolic time in the trip and something I mark by taking a few photos and living the moment. Things are going to get better from today.

The trip down river seems to take no time and before we know it the skyscrapers of lower Manhattan are coming into view. We dock and we look for somewhere for dinner.

We locate the Stone Street Café and enjoy a hearty meal of steak and veggies in the centre of the financial district.
