We were greeted with a perfect autumn day, 18 degrees and sunny.
I headed out in the morning for a walk around Times Square
Took some photos and bought some gifts. It’s an amazing space Times Square. Full of all types, shapes and sizes. Just an amazing space. It has a heart beat about it. It is a throbbing cacophony of sights, sounds and senses. From the hawkers selling CDs, t shirts, to the yelling and screaming of tourists and performers to the smell of rubbish and hot dogs. There is no where else like it on earth.
After about an hour or so I headed back to the hotel so we could head out for the day.
We decided to do some walking around, so walked to Grand Central Terminal and had lunch at the world famous Oyster bar. Oysters anyway you want, check out the photo of the menu.
Mardi had an oyster soup for lunch and I had pop corn prawns. I’m not a fan of oysters.
We walked grand the terminal for a while. Such a beautiful building and space. We bought some yummy cheese, biscuits and chocolate milk from a beautiful fresh produce store.
We then tracked up and down Fifth Avenue for a while taking in the high street stores and their fantastic Christmas window displays. We ventured into Lindt for some chocolate, and exited with five bags, well two were free, so we couldn’t refuse. I picked up a couple of pairs of jeans at a pre thanksgiving sale from Guess. We visited Saks and of course Sephora (visit 4).
In Missouri over the weekend a young boy, black, was shot by the police. He had a fake gun. We stayed in on Monday night, protests were expected, and yes, the news the following day showed vision of protests in Times Square and protests along the Brooklyn bridge.
Snow is forecast for Wednesday, but tomorrow is going to be another fine day. We are off to see the Book of Mormon.
