On Thursday we were greeted with a perfect winters day. The sun was shining and the temperature, although cool was pleasant. We headed out to try and get tickets to a tour of Carnigie Hall. Last time we were here we tried four or five times with no luck. Unlike most other places, Carnigie Hall tickets are only available from the hall on the day of the tour and they sell out in about ten minutes every day. So last time we missed out. And again today we missed out. We will try again tomorrow.

We were next to the Russian Tea Room, a place we’ve been keen to visit but never gave, so we made arrangements for lunch

Lunch was really nice. We passed on the $500 champagne and Caviar special and instead opted for a chicken Kiev and Russian sliders, salmon, veal and Kobe beef. Yum. Mardi also had a tasting plate of Caviar. We were served by a prince, check out the photo of the docket.

After lunch the sun was still shining so we walked Central Park again. You could walk this place hundreds of times and always see and discover something new. This time we found the staircase to nowhere and Point Peebler. Including the ladies pavilion. We saw some old favorites as well including Bow Bridge and Still Hunt. This Panther statue has always been surrounded by bushes and undergrowth. This time the area around it was bare, so we discovered a path and walked up for the first time for a pat. Probably, not allowed, but we did it anyway.

The weather turned on us and it quickly got cold and overcast, so we decided to head home.

I was planning a trip up the Rockefeller centre but we decided to head home.

We had a quick dinner at home and relaxed for an hour or so before walking up town a bit to see a play. Mardi secured discounted front row seats to “You Can’t Take it With You”. A play written in 1936 about a dysfunctional NYC family. James Earl Jones played the patriach as the story followed the trials and tribulations of his grand daughters, the lead played by well known Aussie actress Rose Byrne. A great play. Well worth it.

After the play we walked home, protests again in Times Square as a result of non indictment of police over the death of an African American. These incidents are all over the news and numerous protests are going on all around us.
