After a late night last night we slept in. Of course we also had granola for breakfast from last night’s dinner event.

After breakfast I went for a walk to grand central and took some photos.

Yesterday I photoed the inside, today I took the outside. The building is an exquisite architectural piece and it’s a pleasure to walk around and Ohio at different times of the day.

After my walk I headed home and we headed out together to the library to check out a couple of exhibits, both on photos and photography. Both were very interesting.

The first was an exhibition of photos, drawings and design held in the images library. It took you through the library’s process for collecting, collating, archiving and retrieving the more than 3,000,000 images in the library across some 13,000 categories.

We saw some great historic images of sport, cats wearing clothes, the Empire State Building and accidents.

We then moved into the photography exhibit which showcased over 700 images from across the world that tracked the development of taking photos. From early photographers who invented the development process to modern digital imagery. A massive manual constructed panorama of San Francisco was a highlight, together with some great street scales of NYC.

We headed home after the exhibit, picking up a hot chocolate on the way. The weather was very cold, but fine. We think the real NYC weather has finally arrived with maximum temps of around 8 degrees. Walking home it was 1 degree.

We had a quick break and rugged up for dinner with Bob and Cathy. We met them on second avenue and enjoyed tapas at Maconda, a wonderful Latin American restaurant. It was great catching up with Bob and Cathy, native New Yorkers we’ve known now for three years. A great night out catching up on each other’s goings on over the last year. Time flies.

After dinner we caught the F train up to 61st street and walked past all the Christmas displays in the windows of the major stores. Madison Avenue, Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue, with stores like Bloomingdales, Saks, Barneys and Bergdof Goodman. The effort, the colour, the amazing displays dazzled in the freezing conditions. Check out the video and photos.
