Our annual trip for a discounted shopping day is today. We’ve done this trip a few times and today we seem to be less enthusiastic as in previous years. There are a few factors at play: we are becoming increasingly conscious of our purchasing decision and our footprint on the environment. Secondly, the Aussie Dollar doesn’t have the purchasing power it did a few years earlier, so what were once bargains are now no longer and in some cases items are mo0re expensive.

We may the trek anyway. It is bitterly cold and there remains extensive snow on the ground as we reach the Common. It is an outdoor shopping area, so we spend much of the day in the freezing conditions, which doesn’t make for a pleasant experience.

By late afternoon we are done and head back to Manhattan.

Our highlight of the day being a delicious luncheon at AppleBees.
