We visited an Escher Exhibition in the morning, located in a renovated warehouse down on 34th and 2nd Avenue. An eclectic space of exhibitions, food halls and installations. Escher work is just mind bending. In addition to his art, were live size installations that toyed with your view of reality. Escher’s art frequently incorporates elements of tessellation, which is the tiling of a plane with repeated shapes that fit together without gaps or overlaps. He seamlessly weaves together various motifs, such as birds, fish, reptiles, or interlocking shapes, creating mesmerizing patterns that extend infinitely across the composition. These tessellations give a sense of infinite repetition and balance, showcasing Escher’s fascination with order and symmetry.

We had fun in a room of mirrors playing with angles and shapes and also entered a room which skewed your perspective on size. Me looking three foot tall, while Mardi looked eight feet tall, all done with bending floor patterns, shapes and angles. Amazing stuff.

We took it easy for the afternoon before embarking on one of our highlights, our fourth visit to Eleven Madison Park. As I have written before, Eleven Madison Park is just an experience, a food odyssey; four hours where you lose yourself in astonishing flavour combinations, where protein is matched with vegetable, and infused with spices in a way that tantalizes your taste buds. As always we opt for the Duck as our main course, as well as enjoying lobster, caviar, trout, the world famous bread and butter, and an assorted of accompanying dishes. We finish with maple and chocolate. Just exquisite dining in an art deco building – a highlight of our visit. We will be back as we are already talking about our 2019 visit.
