Our last full day in the big apple and we were presented with a wet, windy and cold day. We didn’t let this dampen our spirits. We had a few things to do, which were favorites this trip.

First on our list was a visit to the eye surgeon.

Maybe not a favorite, but a fourth visit this trip. The good news was that my right eye has healed nicely, OK to travel with some follow up care back in Australia. Thanks Dr Nissan and your team for the great care and attention.

After the doctors visit we headed down town to Bosie. As the rain fell slow and consistently outside we enjoyed a couple of hours sitting in our favorite seat passing time and reflecting on our time.

After lunch we walked the streets of SoHo and NoHo. Some of our favorite shops and sites in this part of town. It got to a point though that the rain got too heavy, so we headed home with a hot chocolate for a couple of hours.

After a break we headed out again, the Apple Store logo was lit red to honour world Sids day and the Empire State was lit red and blue. So despite the rain we walked and took photos. Along the way we had dinner at Toloache, a fantastic Mexican restaurant on 50th

It’s always noisy, busy and the food is always great. We enjoyed a trio of dips and some tacos.

We headed home, walking the six or so blocks in cold and misty conditions.

A great day for our last full day.

Some great highlights this trip including an amazing experience at the cricket watching the all stars play, the continuing great friendship of Bob and Cathy. The walks through Central Park. Eleven Madison and Per Se for food out of this world.

The best part though was a gorgeous month with my darling wife, just enjoying some down time. We both work hard for this time and as most people know it’s part of what we do each year. We are creatures of habit and we love the AKA and our familiarity now with the subway, getting around and the unwritten laws of this crazy yet insatiable metropolis.

We all live in an insanely busy and complicated world and as insane as NYC is it gives us sanity for the next 12 months. We love the tranquility of CANBERRA and it is home. Some people climb mountains, go to the beach, take a cruise, fly or ride fast bikes. For us this is as insane as it gets and we love it. The mayhem of Times Square, the tranquility of Central Park. The cram of the subway, the expanse of the nearest skyscraper. The throng of the crowd, the piece of our room, our sanctuary a stones throw from the cross roads of the universe.
