We heads out for a bit of Black Friday shopping today. We always avoid Midtown, it just gets too manic, so we head down to 23rd Street and the Flatiron district. The shops are quieter, we don’t know if it is because we are avoiding the busiest areas or because it is so cold again. We wander around for a while, but much like our visit to Woodbury Common, we are becoming increasingly aware of our carbon foot print so limit our shopping to mostly window shopping.

After a while we split up and Mardi heads home and I go to Central Park for a walk around the reservoir. This has become an annual thing for me to do. I quite enjoy the 5km round trip walking around the reservoir, taking in the differing sights and sounds: people walking, running, walking babies in carts designed for high speeds, walking dogs, on roller skates, older couple meandering along as the shadows grow as long as their relationships.

As I feel the cold settle in, which is quite eerie. The day goes from light to dark quickly and as quick as the light dims the temperature drops. I exit on the west side and wander down 7th Avenue home, it’s around 30 blocks, so a brisk walk will keep me warm.

We eat in, some Italian keeps us going and we take it easy for a while.
